As part of the NHS commitment to providing more personalised care, from June 2015 all practices are required to provide all their patients with a named GP who will have overall responsibility for the care at the practice.

What does this mean?

Although all patients will have been allocated a named GP it does not mean you have to consult with this GP and you can continue to see a GP of your choice, where available. A patient may request a particular named GP and reasonable efforts will be made by the practice to accommodate the patients preference but this does not mean you will be guaranteed an appointment with this GP.
