Patients may request to change the gender on their patient record at any time. You do not need to have undergone any form of gender reassignment treatment in order to do so.
Please do note that by changing your gender the Registration Authority will issue you with a new NHS number and your previous NHS number will be cancelled, this means there will be no reference to your previous medical record and only relevant medical diagnosis will be added.
You will not be able to revert back to your old NHS number once a new one has been issued. If you did wish to change your gender again in the future, you will be allocated a further NHS number.
