Blood tests have a wide range of uses and are one of the most common types of medical test.
Blood test results usually reach the surgery within 7-10 days. You are able to view blood test results via your online services. If you do not have online services you can contact the surgery between 11.30am – 3pm. The receptionist will be able to tell you the ‘filing comment/action’ from the clinician. It is important that, if your blood test is not part of a routine review, you contact the surgery and do not assume all is well if you have not heard anything. If your blood tests are requested as part of an routine review, these results will be discussed at your next review appointment therefore it will not be necessary to contact the surgery for these results.
If you are instructed to make another appointment please do not be alarmed and where possible try to book the appointment with the clinician you previously saw unless instructed otherwise by the ‘filing comment’ or receptionist.
Unfortunately the GP practice is not able to see blood tests requested by hospitals. These results will go back to the ordering clinician and you will need to discuss the results at your next hospital appointment. If you have any concerns regarding your results you can contact the consultants/departments secretary via the main hospital telephone number.
The Practice only has a very limited number of blood test appointments. Therefore, we ask patients, where possible, to use the well appointed blood clinics within the community.
