Book an x-ray or scan

Information on how to book your X-ray or scan appointment

Please note you can only book an X-ray or scan if you have been requested to do so by a clinician.

Find out about my test results

If the doctor or nurse arranges blood, urine or other tests including X-Rays, the results from these usually reach the surgery in 7-10 working days, except cervical smears which can take 6 weeks.

Unless you have an appointment for review, you should telephone the surgery between 11:30 am and 3:00 pm to obtain your test results.

Hospital tests/imaging

If your tests/imaging is requested by a consultant, your GP practice will NOT receive this result. These results will go back to the ordering clinician who will discuss with you at your next appointment. You can contact the clinicians secretary to see if the results are back/reported on. Please call the hospital switchboard and ask to be put through to your consultant’s and/or department’s secretary.

What do I do if I have a dental problem

If you have an urgent dental problem, such as a toothache or a dental abscess, you should see a dentist NOT your GP.

If you have a regular dentist you should telephone them and arrange an urgent appointment. If they are closed there should be an answer phone message with the telephone number of the local dentist covering emergencies.

If you have any trouble getting through, call 111 for advice.

Advice is also available from dental advisors regarding all dental problems from the British Dental Health Foundation (BDHF) website at http://www.dentalhealth.org/.
